Sen. Emanuel Jones Commends Henry County Courts for Investigation of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary

ATLANTA (September 19, 2023) | This week, the Henry County Court System released notices of an arraignment court date for leaders of the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary located in Locust Grove, Georgia. Senator Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) has previously called for an investigation into the facility through the release of a letter to Attorney General Chris Carr.

“I applaud the Henry County Court System for taking steps to conduct this much-needed investigation of the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary,” said Sen. Jones. “I will continue to push for further action to be taken against those who wish to put these innocent animals in harm’s way, and I know that this is only the beginning of a long battle to ensure that Noah’s Ark is held accountable for their abuse.”

“The abuse of animals should not be tolerated, and I appreciate Senator Jones for his efforts in calling for an investigation of this organization,” said Shazir Haque, Founder and Executive Director of Shizzy’s Wildcat Rescue. “The leadership of Noah’s Ark currently has 22 charges for animal abuse amongst them. Although the Board of Directors for Noah’s Ark is heavily involved, this is essentially the team on the ground running Noah’s Ark currently. They should be held accountable for the neglect of these animals.”

This investigation comes after multiple investigations led by the United States Department of Agriculture, Department of Natural Resources and the local Animal Control division.
