Sen. Dean Burke and Rep. Darlene Taylor Announce Funding for Wastewater System Infrastructure in Cairo, Ga.

ATLANTA (February 19, 2021) | Today, State Senator Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge) and State Representative Darlene Taylor (R – Thomasville) announced that the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority has approved a $800,000 loan through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) for improving the wastewater system infrastructure for the city of Cairo, Ga.

“The CWSRF loan will go a long way towards meeting the needs of our community and paving the way for environmental responsibility,” said Sen. Burke. “Inadequate service can block residential, commercial and school development, while also posing a significant risk to public health and the environment. This loan will help us to continue to protect and improve the state’s water resources, and benefit our community as a whole. I am extremely proud that the city of Cairo has been awarded this funding.”

“I am so pleased that the City of Cairo has been awarded the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan,” said Rep. Taylor. “It will benefit the entire community and will be instrumental in future development. The timing could not have been better as it goes along with the city’s development plans. Many thanks to all of those involved in securing this award.”

CWSFR is a federally-funded program that offers loans for wastewater infrastructure and pollution prevention projects. For more information on the CWSRF, please visit here.
