ATLANTA (January 8, 2018) | On Monday, the Georgia Senate nominated and elected Senator Butch Miller (R – Gainesville) as President Pro Tempore of the Georgia Senate.
“It is an honor to serve my constituents and the Senate as a whole in this capacity,” said Sen. Miller. “I am incredibly thankful for the support I have – from my family and friends to my constituents and colleagues. This job is a big undertaking and one that I know will come with disagreements and differences of opinions but I know that our chamber can have our disagreements without being disagreeable. And for this reason, I am confident that we will be able to pass meaningful legislation for all Georgians, regardless of where they live or what they do. I look forward to this session and will be working diligently to better the lives of Georgians.”
Senator Butch Miller was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2010 to represent the 49th Senate District, which is comprised of the majority of Hall County. Sen. Miller serves as a member of the Senate Appropriations, Banking and Financial Institutions, Ethics, Regulated Industries and Utilities and Rules Committees. He is preceded by Sen. David Shafer (R – Duluth) who served as the Senate President Pro Tempore from 2013 until Monday, January 8, 2018.
