Sen. Burt Jones to Serve on the Georgia Commission on Freight and Logistics

ATLANTA (May 15, 2019) | Sen. Burt Jones (R – Jackson) has been appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Georgia Commission on Freight and Logistics.

“I want to thank Lt. Governor Duncan for appointing me to this important commission,” said Sen. Jones. “If we are going to remain the number one state in which to do business, we must ensure that our freight and logistics infrastructure is also number one in the nation. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the commission to thoroughly review our current system and to come up with recommendations on improvements that can be made. Improving the mobility of citizens and goods throughout the state and increasing communication between providers and logistics is something I believe is critical to our state’s continued economic success and I look forward to the commission making that a reality.”

The Georgia Commission on Freight and Logistics was created by the passage of House Resolution 37 during the 2019 Legislative Session. The 22-member commission will review the state’s current freight and logistics infrastructure to ensure the industry is being utilized in the most efficient and effective manner. They will review current practices and the possible benefits of developing alternative freight routes. This legislation was signed by Governor Brian P. Kemp on May 7, 2019 and went into effect on that date.
