ATLANTA (March 7, 2014) | Senator Buddy Carter (R- Pooler) received an award from the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council for Georgia (PACGA) for his advocacy and leadership in the industry yesterday. Sen. Carter serves as the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee as well as Chairman of the Appropriations Sub-Committee on Public Safety.
“I remain dedicated to assisting this prestigious organization in their efforts of providing representation for all throughout our great state,” said Sen. Carter. “I am honored to receive this award and will continue to utilize my legislative role to advocate for prosecuting attorneys.”
Sen. Carter was honored for his commitment to ensuring that the district attorneys of this state have the tools necessary to prosecute the criminals and stand up for the victims of crime and seek justice.

Sen. Carter has championed numerous bills assisting the PACGA in recent years. SB 370, passed in 2012, updated the Controlled Substances Act and the Dangerous Drug Act to include “synthetic marijuana.” This was a direct suggested by the crime lab and the Ga. Drugs and Narcotics Agency. In addition, Sen. Carter carried SR 84, which passed in 2011, and amended the State Constitution to allow the General Assembly to authorize the State Properties Commission, the Board of Regents, and the Georgia Department of Labor to enter into multi-year contracts. Currently, state government agencies are limited to single-year contracts.
Established in 1975, the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia provides a number of important services to the hundreds of elected and appointed prosecutors across the State of Georgia. The council consists of nine members, six district attorneys and three state court solicitors who establish policies that guide the day-to-day work of the Council staff.
