Sen. Brian Strickland Appointed to Senate COAM Study Committee

ATLANTA (August 25, 2020) | Recently, Sen. Brian Strickland (R – McDonough) was appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Senate Coin Operated Amusement Machine (COAM) Study Committee.

“While COAMs and other services provided by the Georgia Lottery serve as important funding mechanisms for Georgia’s higher education initiatives, we also need to ensure that the proper rules and regulations are being followed and enforced,” said Sen. Strickland. “This study committee will seek to find what additional resources may be necessary to assist the Georgia Lottery in its oversight of COAMs and identify other ways the state can assist local law enforcement. I look forward to working with the members of this study committee to find solutions which will safeguard the integrity of COAMs and ensure higher education programs continue to receive the funding they need.”

The Senate COAM Study Committee was established through the passage of Senate Resolution 1024, adopted during the 2020 Legislative Session. The committee will be tasked with studying the current regulations of COAMs and oversight provided by the Georgia Lottery.
