Sen. Albers Receives Environmental Leadership Award

ATLANTA (June 3, 2011) – Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) recently received the Environmental Leadership Award from the Georgia Conservation Voters. He achieved the award for his demonstrated support of Georgia’s natural resources.

“As elected officials, we have a vital duty to balance good environmental policy with cultivating economic and job growth,” said Albers. “I am honored to receive this award and will continue to ensure this balance remains a top agenda item in the state Senate.”

“Senator Albers consistently cast votes in favor of protecting Georgia’s natural resources this year, and actively worked to promote an understanding among his colleagues of the need to protect Georgia’s environment as an integral part of preserving our way of life,” said Rob Teilhet, Executive Director of Georgia Conservation Voters.

“Specifically, Senator Albers fought to maintain Georgia’s recycling programs and protect our scenic landscapes,” continued Teilhet. “Thanks to Senator Albers’ leadership Georgia’s natural resources had a voice at our state capitol.”

Georgia Conservation Voters works with environmental and sportsmen’s organizations across the state to develop shared legislative priorities each year.  Legislators receive Environmental Leadership Awards based upon their votes and leadership on the common agenda.   Senator Albers was one of forty-six members of the Georgia General Assembly to receive a 2011 Environmental Leadership Award.
