Sen. Albers Joins Gov. Deal in Recognizing Marine NCO Sgt. Jason T. Greene as NCO Marine of the Year

Sgt Greene2ATLANTA (September 26, 2014) | Senator John Albers (R –Roswell) recently joined Gov. Nathan Deal as they recognized Marine NCO Sgt. Jason T. Greene as NCO Marine of the Year.  Sen. Albers and Gov. Deal noted his unwavering commitment to the United States of America through his service in the United States Marine Corps as they celebrated his achievement.

“Sgt. Greene is the definition of a true American hero and completely deserving of this distinguished honor,” said Sen. Albers.  “As a third generation marine, he comes from a long and renowned line of upstanding citizens who selflessly serve these United States.  He was instrumental in our nation’s success in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and continues to serve in the armed forces in addition to employment in the private sector and roles as a husband and father. It was an honor to join him and his family for this special occasion.” 

Sgt. Green began his service in 2006 and in May 2009 was mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was subsequently deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan as part of Task Force Leatherneck from November 2009 to June 2010. While in Afghanistan, Sgt. Greene was assigned as the assistant team leader, and eventually team leader for team 1, 5th platoon. He would participate in a number of offensive operations throughout Helmand Province. Sgt. Greene was recognized as the 2d MEB (Forward) NCO of the Quarter, and received a combat meritorious promotion to Sergeant.

After returning from Afghanistan, Sgt. Greene returned to B Co, 4th Recon Bn and held billets as the platoon sergeant for the reconnaissance training platoon, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and his current role as the Company Operations Chief. Sgt. Greene’s personal awards include the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal with one star, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. When not in a Marine Corps uniform, Sgt. Greene works for Merrill Lynch in Atlanta, GA. Sgt Greene is supported by his incredible wife, Lindsay, and their two children, Avery and Braedy.
