ATLANTA (May 11, 2009) – Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) released the following statement today regarding Governor Perdue’s decision to veto House Bill 481:
“The JOBS bills were specifically designed to create jobs for Georgians by offering incentives to hire and invest. Now more than ever Georgia needs to be the national leader in job creation. I remain convinced our effort to give tax credits to those Georgia businesses willing to hire is the right thing to do. While I understand the Governor’s reason for vetoing this important legislation, I remain undeterred in my effort to lower taxes in Georgia. It is painful to watch what the failed policies of high taxation have done to states like California and New York. We must move in the opposite direction. Georgia needs to be the place where every successful company wants to do business. I will continue to lead the way on these pro-growth policies and look forward to working with Governor Perdue to make it a reality.”
