President Pro Tempore Butch Miller to Introduce Legislation Repealing State Income tax

ATLANTA (November 15, 2021) | Today, President Pro Tempore Butch Miller (R – Gainesville) pre-filed legislation to repeal Georgia’s state income tax.

“Taxation is theft. Pure and simple. And in the wake of record surpluses, now more than ever, we must figure out a way to be better stewards of taxpayer money and to only tax what is needed and no more,” said Senator Miller. “Georgians,” he added, “know how to use their hard-earned money better than we do, and in order for Georgia to continue to build on its reputation and attract top businesses and talent, we must do more to limit the financial burden we place on our citizens. I want to keep our state as the number one state for business, the number one state to work, live, and raise a family, and the number one state to retire.”

The proposed legislation calls for the repeal of the state income tax to take place for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2023. Once filed, the legislation will be available online here: https://www.legis.ga.gov/search?s=1029&p=1
