Senate Majority Leader Rogers to Hold Press Availability on Property Taxes

ATLANTA (Dec. 14, 2009) – Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) will be available to speak with local media on property taxes Tuesday, Dec. 15, prior to the 1:00 p.m. Senate Property Tax Assessments and Appeals Committee meeting at the State Capitol.  This committee, of which Rogers serves as Chairman, is meeting with local government and business officials to examine current methods of property tax collection and effective solutions for ensuring fairness and accuracy.

Sen. Ramsey Pre-files Student Protection from Predators Act

ATLANTA (Dec. 11, 2009) – Yesterday, State Senator Ronald B. Ramsey, Sr. (D–Lithonia) pre-filed Senate Bill 300, the Student Protection from Predators Act. The legislation is in direct response to the acquittal of a 36-year-old, Marietta high school teacher who admittedly had consensual sexual relations with his 17-year-old student. Senate Majority Leader Responds to Investigation of Georgia’s Broken Property Tax System
