First Weeks Set Positive Direction for Legislative Session

ATLANTA (January 23, 2009)—The first couple of weeks of the 2009 Legislative Session outlined the productive direction we will take for the rest of the year. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, we will be taking on balancing the budget while addressing critical issues that affect all of Georgia’s citizens.

Budget Discussions Begin with Agency Hearings

ATLANTA (January 23, 2009) – This week, as I sat with my Senate and House colleagues through state budget hearings, I was encouraged to see a sense of cooperation emerging. Our state leaders have been advocating such cooperation since the beginning of session, as it is the only way we will solve the serious issues facing our state. I was proud to watch an historic presidential inauguration this week, and can only hope to see a similar spirit of cooperation from our colleagues in Washington. No matter our political party, we must give the new administration our full support. It is in everyone’s best interest to see our new president succeed in making the right choices for our country.

Sen. Seabaugh hosts Chaplain of the Day at the Capitol

ATLANTA (January 21, 2009) – State Sen. Mitch Seabaugh (R-Sharpsburg) recently hosted Chaplain of the Day Dr. Tim Riordan of SonRise Baptist Church in Newnan at the state Capitol, where he delivered the morning devotion before the Senate began its daily business.
