ATLANTA (June 18, 2010) – While the steady stream of illegal immigrants continues to flood American streets, our country’s leaders do nothing more than offer a political nod to securing our borders.  President Obama is sending 1,200 troops to Mexico, just enough to plug a tiny fissure in the gaping chasm that is our border security.  Honest, hardworking American taxpayers are footing the bill for the more than 10 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S. today.  Taxpayers are under siege; they simply cannot sustain the financial burden of millions of undocumented immigrants who cross our borders each year.

Sen. Butterworth: A Leader in Addressing Enforcement of Immigration Laws in Georgia’s Education System

ATLANTA (June 17, 2010) – State Sen. Jim Butterworth (R-Clarkesville) aligned with 14 other state senators this week in addressing how federal and state immigration laws are enforced in Georgia’s public education system. They each signed a letter, which was sent to all Board of Regents members, expressing their disapproval of how the Regents’ handle the presence of unlawful aliens in the education system. Sen. Butterworth Joins Fight to Save Crime Labs

ATLANTA (June 16, 2010) – State Sen. Jim Butterworth (R-Clarkesville) joined the fight this week to save the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s regional crime laboratories in Moultrie and Columbus. The General Assembly provided necessary appropriations for the labs in the FY 2011 budget, but the governor vetoed the funding when he signed the final appropriations bill. Continue reading “Sen. Senator Rogers named Legislator of the Year by the Technology Association of Georgia

WOODSTOCK (June 16, 2010) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) has selected Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) as their 2010 Legislator of the Year. Senator Rogers was instrumental in passing the Association’s key legislation this year including the Angel Investor Credit which is expected to make Georgia a national leader for investing technology start-up companies.
