ATLANTA (March 13, 2015) | Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R – Marietta) led the passage of Senate Bill 185 through the State Senate with a vote of 54-1. This legislation creates a five-year pilot program to be conducted by the Board of Regents to study the effects of cannadbidiol (CBD) on minors with medication-resistant seizures. This legislation will also create the Controlled Substances Therapeutic Research Act. Gov. Nathan Deal Signs Senate Bill 103 into Law
ATLANTA (March 12, 2014) | Today, Sen. Lester Jackson (D–Savannah) joined legislators from the Georgia House of Representatives as Gov. Nathan Deal signed Senate Bill 103 into law. State Senate Passes Legislation Defining Class B Felonies Pertaining to School Children
ATLANTA (March 13, 2014) | Sen. Emanuel Jones (D- Decatur), Chairman of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council, led the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 141 through the State Senate. SB 141 provides that a violation of the Georgia criminal statute relating to carrying weapons within school safety zones by a juvenile will only be considered a Class B designated felony if the act involves a firearm or any weapon together with an assault. Sen. Donzella James Champions Georgia’s Youth with Passage of Senate Bill 35
ATLANTA (March 13, 2015) | This week, Sen. Donzella James (D – Atlanta) led the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 35 through the State Senate. SB 35 provides that a child under six years old in a car unattended, or under the supervision of a child younger than 13 years old, will be charged with cruelty to a child in the third degree, given that the child is at substantial risk of harm to health. Senate Works to Preserve Integrity of Floridan Aquifer
ATLANTA (March 13, 2015) | Sen. William Ligon (R – Brunswick) led the passage Friday of Senate Bill 36, the Underground Water Supply Protection Act of 2015. Senate Bill 36 requires the Board of Natural resources to adopt regulations that provide for the protection and preservation of the Floridan aquifer by July 1, 2016.
