Phonesavanh Family Attorney Mawuli Davis and Others will Join Sen. Fort

ATLANTA (June 3, 2014)  |  Sen. Vincent Fort (D- Atlanta) will join Mawuli Davis, the Phonesavanh family attorney of the injured infant, TODAY, June 3, 2014 at 2 p.m.  to deliver a letter to the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia Sally Yates. He will also be joined by community activists as he calls for an investigation into the no-knock warrant raid that left a 19-month old boy severely injured by a SWAT grenade. Continue reading “Sen. National Leadership Program Announces Augusta Chapter Graduates

AUGUSTA (May 23, 2014) |  Sen. Hardie Davis (Augusta) and the New Leaders Council – Augusta Chapter congratulates the Inaugural Fellows Class on the successful completion of the New Leaders Council Institute.  A graduation ceremony will be held at Jim Hudson Lexus (3520 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30909) on Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. The fourteen graduates hosted a highly successful fundraising event, “Movers, Shakers and Change Makers,” on Saturday, May 3, and will also present capstone projects on Saturday, May 24. Senator Cecil Staton Announces Resignation from the State Senate

Staton’s resignation is prompted by his accepting the position of Vice Chancellor for Extended Education with the University System of Georgia effective June 1. Sen. Nan Orrock Leads Push For Reasonable Pentagon Spending Cuts

nanATLANTA (May 16, 2014) |  State Senator Nan Grogan Orrock (D-Atlanta) joined Rep. Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta), Rep. Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta), and Rep. Simone Bell (D-Atlanta) in a meeting with Congressman David Scott (D-GA13) to present him with a letter signed by twenty-two Georgia women legislators. Sen. Jeff Mullis Announces New Tax Incentives for Local Amusement Park

ATLANTA (May 12, 2014)  |  Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) is proud to announce that as of April 18, 2014, the South’s favorite family amusement park – Lake Winnepesaukah of Rossville – is the first tourism destination approved for a tax incentive under the Georgia Tourism Development Act. With the addition of their $5 million new water park expansion, SOAK YA, Lake Winnepesaukah is helping Georgia continue to both draw new visitors and keep familiar ones returning. The ten year agreement involves a partial sales tax refund for Lake Winnepesaukah on the increased revenues due to the addition of SOAK YA Water Park in 2013. Continue reading “Sen.
