Major Building Materials Company to Invest $59 Million in Upson County

ATLANTA (January 31, 2023) | Late last week, Governor Brian Kemp announced that Green Georgia, LLC, a sustainable building materials company, will invest $59 million in a new headquarters for the company, located in Thomaston, Georgia. This major investment will create over 170 new jobs for Georgians. Thomaston is located in Upson County, a county that Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. John F. Kennedy (R – Macon) serves as part of Senate District 18. Green Georgia, LLC has pledged to partner with local contractors in the area to construct the over 300,000 square-foot production facility at the Thomaston-Upson Industrial Park. This facility will support addressing the increasing demand for more eco-friendly building solutions across the Southeast.

“This is great news for not only Upson County but the entire state of Georgia,” said Pro Tem Kennedy. “I want to commend Upson County Leadership for their long-term commitment in building the needed infrastructure and cultivating an exceptional business climate that will continue to attract projects like this for years to come. Under Governor Kemp’s leadership, Middle Georgia is primed for economic growth and I am excited to hear about more opportunities coming to our region of the state. This new facility will not only create 170 jobs, it will serve as a catalyst for supporting industries to bring more opportunities for Middle Georgians for years to come. I want to thank Governor Kemp and Commissioner Pat Wilson for their vision and dedication to putting this project into motion. Operations are expected to begin by early 2024 and I look forward to the benefits this project will bring for the state of Georgia.”
