Georgia Environmental Finance Authority Announces Loan to Carroll County

ATLANTA (August 22, 2019) | The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) recently awarded a $25,000,000 loan to the Carroll County Water Authority to fund various capacity improvements. This award was part of $76.1 million awarded statewide for water, sewer and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

“As our community continues to grow, we need to ensure that our utility services remain efficient and maintained in order to provide for all who need them,” said Sen. Mike Dugan (R – Carrollton). “Our water supply in particular must constantly be growing and improving to meet the rising demand in Carroll County. I am thankful to GEFA and all who had a hand in assisting with this project and I look forward to working with them to bring future projects to our district.”

The Carroll County Water Authority was awarded a $25,000,000 Drinking Water State Resolving Fund (DWSRF) conservation loan to fund improvements at the Snake Creek Water Treatment Plant. Specifically, the loan will help increase the plant’s capacity to service a growing population, upgrade the coagulation treatment process and add additional redundancy. The DWSRF “provides low-interest loans for infrastructure projects that deliver safe, affordable drinking water” and the program is jointly funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Georgia.
