By: Sen. Matt Brass (R–Newnan)
On Monday, January 13th, we kicked off the 2025 Legislative Session, where I was sworn in as the Senator of Georgia’s 6th District (formerly 28th District). I am excited to be representing Carroll County once again and look forward to continuing to serve my longstanding constituents in Coweta and Heard Counties.
This week, my colleagues and I hit the ground running. Among the highlights, James “Jack” Tripp was sworn in as our new Secretary of the Senate. Additionally, Governor Brian P. Kemp delivered his annual “State of the State” where he mentioned hurricane relief, economic growth, tort reform, and continuing to expand access to healthcare. I will work tirelessly on these critical issues and, most importantly, on addressing my district’s concerns.
As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules, I am grateful for Lt. Governor Burt Jones’ continued trust in my leadership. I also look forward to serving as the Secretary of the Senate Committee on Children and Families and as a member of the Senate Committees on Administrative Affairs, Natural Resources and the Environment and Regulated Industries and Utilities.
Over the years as a State Senator, I have seen many people come and go. While the individuals around me may change, my commitment to serving the people of Georgia—and especially the residents of the 6th Senate District—remains steadfast.
Each session day, I am inspired by the young constituents who participate in our Page Program. Their interest in state government and their service to the Senate is truly commendable. I encourage all constituents aged 12-18 to learn more about participating in the page program here or by contacting my office for more details. I look forward to seeing young leaders from Carroll, Coweta and Heard Counties this session!
Please feel free to reach out to my office with any concerns or ideas you may have—I’m here to serve you.
