She was chosen by NBCSL’s president and fellow Georgian, Rep. Calvin Smyre (D-Columbus), who she has served alongside for many years in the Georgia General Assembly.
Sen. Seay Secures Funding in FY2010 Budget for Clayton County
ATLANTA (April 3, 2009) – Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) has successfully secured funds in the state’s Fiscal Year 2010 budget for bond projects in Clayton County. The General Assembly passed the budget last week on the final day of the 2009 legislative session.

Sen. Seay Encourages High School Seniors to Register to Vote in April
ATLANTA (March 24, 2009) — Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) is encouraging eligible high school seniors to register to vote at their school during the month of April. Thanks to legislation that she sponsored in the Senate in 2001, public schools now offer students who are at least 18 years old the opportunity to register to vote at their school.

Sen. Seay Elected to National Black Caucus Executive Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – (December 16, 2008) Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) has recently been elected to the Executive Committee of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) during the organization’s 32nd annual legislative conference in Washington, D.C. Chosen by 600 of her colleagues from across the nation, Sen. Seay will serve as an at-large member of the Executive Committee, replacing fellow Georgian Rep. Bob Holmes (D-Atlanta).
