Sen. Ramsey Speaks with Members of Georgia Council of the Blind

ATLANTA (Jan. 14, 2010) – Yesterday, State Senator Ronald B. Ramsey, Sr. (D–Lithonia) addressed a coalition of the blind and deaf community about funding regarding the 2007 legislation, SB 49. The bill, signed by the governor, transferred the deaf-blind community services from the Division of Rehabilitation Services to the Department of Labor to allow for better access to critical resources.

Senator Preston Smith Introduces Volunteer Emergency Assistance Bill

ATLANTA- (Jan. 13, 2010) – Sen. Preston Smith (R-Rome) introduced the Volunteer Emergency Assistance Bill (SB 315) which allows out of state licensed emergency personnel to assist the state in the event of a disaster. It seeks to ensure organization and rapid medical attention during a disaster.
