Sen. Orrock Asks Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles to Reconsider Troy Davis’s Case

ATLANTA (September 16, 2011) –Sen. Nan Orrock (D-Atlanta) has sent a memo to the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles to stay the execution of Troy Anthony Davis.  Joining Sen. Orrock’s call to grant clemency, or alternatively a new trial, is U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D – 5th District), U.S. Rep. David Scott (D-13th District) and U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop (D – 2nd District).

Hill & Rogers Named National Chairmen of the Year

Atlanta, Ga.  August 11, 2011 Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers and Representative Calvin Hill have been awarded State Co-Chair of the Year at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC). Nearly 2,000 state legislators, policy experts, and private-sector leaders from across the country are ALEC members and focused on applying limited government principles to solving the issues facing the states and our nation at this critical time.

This prestigious award was given to the state legislators that demonstrated exemplary leadership in advancing the Jeffersonian principles of limited government, free-markets, federalism and individual liberty.

Sen. Rogers to Serve on International Committee for Council of State Governments

ATLANTA- (Tuesday, July 12, 2011) – Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) has been chosen to serve as a member of The Council of State Governments’ International Committee for 2011 and 2012. CSG is a nonpartisan organization that fosters partnerships of learning by advising state government officials and leaders in their process of formulating public policy. In his new role, Rogers will help the committee track global economic developments and how they will impact state government. CSG national committees meet twice a year. This year’s 2011 North American Summit & National Conference will be held Oct. 19-23 in Bellevue, Washington. Continue reading “Sen.
