ATLANTA (March 7, 2012) – Senate Bill 493, which authorizes properly trained 18 to 21 year olds to be issued a weapons carry license, passed the Georgia Senate today. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Barry Loudermilk (R-Cassville) and passed by a 41-13 vote.
Georgia Religious Employers Exempt from Mandate Requiring Contraception Coverage
ATLANTA (March 7, 2012) –The Georgia Senate passed SB 460 on Wednesday by a vote of 38 to 15. Sponsored by Sen. Josh McKoon (R-Columbus), this legislation would exempt religious employers from the health insurance mandate requiring contraceptive coverage.

Senate Bill Passes Encouraging Professional Development for Food Stamp Recipients
ATLANTA (March 7, 2012) – The Georgia Senate passed SB 312 today by a vote of 40 to 14. Sponsored by Sen. William Ligon (R-Brunswick), this legislation would require food stamp recipients to pursue personal or professional development to retain welfare eligibility.

Bill Requiring Verification for Post-Secondary Education Benefits Passes Senate
ATLANTA (March 5, 2012) – Senate Bill 458, which would require the verified citizen status of all applicants for public benefits, passed the Georgia Senate today. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Barry Loudermilk (R-Cassville) and passed with a 34-19 vote.
