Sen. Blake Tillery Announces Third Biennial Youth Legislator Scholarship Contest

ATLANTA (October 6, 2020) | Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) has just announced that the application window for his Third Youth Legislator Scholarship Contest will open on October 12, 2020, to any middle and high school students residing in Senate District 19. As part of the process, candidates will be asked to submit an essay on one of two prompts related to inspiring youth to get involved with the state government process before the November 20, 2020 deadline.

Sen. Blake Tillery Confirms Bond Agencies Reaffirm Georgia’s AAA Rating

ATLANTA (August 14, 2020) | Recently, Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) joined Gov. Brian Kemp in announcing Georgia’s AAA long-term bond rating, assigned by the S&P Global Ratings, Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings credit analyst groups. Rated Aaa, AAA and AAA, collectively, with a stable outlook, Georgia is one of 13 states to currently be assigned this rating.

Baxley Municipal Airport Awarded Funding for Airfield Pavement Rehabilitation

ATLANTA (November 5, 2019) | Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) recently announced the City of Baxley has been awarded a contract to fund the rehabilitation of Baxley Municipal Airport’s runway and taxiway as part of the Fiscal Year 2020 Airport Aid Program. The contract award is worth over $1.95 million and is being federally funded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s grant to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

“Ensuring our airport’s infrastructure is up to code and able to support various types of aircraft are vital components to investments made in rural Georgia,” said Sen. Tillery. “I know that this project and others around our district are ways to both entice investors and support current business through transportation improvements. I’m grateful to Gov. Kemp, Rep. Greg Morris and Steven Meeks, and our colleagues in the legislature who helped us get this for Appling County.”
