Bleckley and Laurens Counties Awarded GDOT Projects

ATLANTA (August 22, 2018) | The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) recently announced that a project contract to renovate several bridges along I-16 in Bleckley and Laurens Counties has been awarded. The project, worth $1.59 million, has an estimated completion date of January 31, 2020.

“I am happy to see this contract awarded as there are several bridges along I-16 that are in need of repair,” said Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry). “I-16 is a major transportation artery for not just middle Georgia, but the state as a whole. I am confident that these improvements will make commutes for citizens, travelers and freight faster, safer and more efficient. I am thankful for all the elected officials on the state and local level who worked hard to make this happen and look forward to the completion of this project and others in the future.”

This contract award is part of the more than $64,022,862 awarded for 21 construction contracts statewide. Information on schedules, lane closures and detours will be made available in advance of construction activities. Routine Maintenance Contracting opportunities are available.
