Sen. RaShaun Kemp to Hold Joint Press Conference on Students’ Right to Protest

ATLANTA (February 23, 2026) — Tomorrow, February 24, Sen. RaShaun Kemp (D–Atlanta) will host a press conference with Rep. Bryce Berry (D–Atlanta), Georgia students, and Atlanta Public Schools board members to highlight Senate Bill 479 and House Bill 1239, legislation aimed at protecting students’ First Amendment rights and expanding civic engagement opportunities in schools. In response to local retaliation against student walkouts, this bill seeks to encourage student participation in civic activities, including visiting the capitol, attending protests and strikes.

Sen. Elena Parent and Rep. Saira Draper to Hold Press Conference on Mid-Cycle Redistricting Legislation

ATLANTA (February 19, 2026) — Today, Chair of the Senate Minority Caucus Elena Parent (D–Atlanta) and Rep. Saira Draper (D–Atlanta) will hold a press conference to discuss proposed legislation aimed at reforming Georgia’s process for mid-cycle redistricting. Those bills include Senate Bill 114, Senate Resolution 58, Senate Resolution 558 and House Resolution 1033.

Sen. Jaha Howard Introduces Legislation to Protect Immigrants’ Privacy Rights
