ATLANTA (January 5, 2009) – The Senate Local Sales Tax Collection Study Committee met at the Capitol for the final time today and introduced a draft legislation entitled the “Local Tax Collection Act.” The Act would allow local governments to choose their preferred method of sales tax collection.

In response to 2007 legislation championed by Georgia State Senator Judson Hill (R-Marietta) and after much hard work, the Department of Community Health (DCH) announced the launch of GeorgiaHealthInfo.gov Monday as a resource to help Georgians make educated health decisions.

Sen. John Douglas Pre-Files Legislation to Protect Children from Sexual Predators
ATLANTA (December 30, 2008) – State Senator John Douglas (R-Social Circle) has pre-filed Senate Bill 14 to help protect school children from sexual predators. The bill simply amends current state law by adding that no one on the National Sex Offender Registry or the state sexual offender registry can be elected to serve on a local board of education.
