Sen. Judson Hill’s Guidelines for Federal Health Care in Georgia Government Passes Senate

MARIETTA (March 26, 2010) – Legislation passed the Georgia Senate today (30-16) strictly prohibiting any state department or agency from implementing the recently-passed federal health care measure without providing the Georgia General Assembly with a cost-benefit analysis and the financial impact to the taxpayers.  State Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta) authored Senate Bill 399 which would require the House and Senate to expressly approve any agency’s plan to utilize the federal plan for its employee’s health care coverage. Adequate Education is a Right for All Georgians

ATLANTA (March 26, 2010) – As the Georgia General Assembly nears the completion of another legislative session, we continue to face uphill challenges that affect all citizens in this great state.  We are currently experiencing the worst economic downturn in Georgia’s history and have had to make tough decisions regarding the state budget.  As a result, many state agencies have substantially reduced their operating budget to adjust to lower revenue levels.  Unfortunately, some of the largest reductions have come down on the most important program within Georgia: education.

Sen. Buckner Leads the Senate to Pass Legislation to Protect Local School Systems

ATLANTA (March 26, 2010) – Sen. Gail Buckner (D-Morrow) championed legislation to a passing vote in the Senate today that cracks down on unethical behavior in local school boards.  Senate Bill 426 takes action against school board members who contribute to a school system losing its accreditation.

Senate votes to Prevent Coercive Abortions

ATLANTA (March 26, 2010) – The Georgia State Senate today voted to prevent women in Georgia from being forced to have an abortion against their will.  Under Senate Bill 529, authored by Sen. Chip Pearson (R-Dawsonville), criminal abortions will include unlawfully coercive abortions, or with the intent to prevent a birth based on the gender or race of the unborn child.

Washington can’t ignore the Will of the People

ATLANTA (March 26, 2010) – Congress’ passage of national health care reform proves that despite speaking loudly, Americans’ voices were not heard in Washington.  For the 59 percent of Americans who did not want Washington to pass such reform, we have been abandoned by a government that used to work for us, not against us.  Our nation’s leaders continue to run this country based on leadership that ignores the will of the people.  After seizing control of the automobile industry, Washington has stolen control of our health care industry with bribery and arm-twisting and soon will be attempting to highjack environmental trade practices.  Americans cannot and will not stand for such blatant disregard of their voices.  Our pocketbooks, our families and our future simply cannot afford it any longer.
