ATLANTA (September 24, 2013) – Senator Tim Golden (R- Valdosta) co-chaired the Joint Study Committee on Medicaid Reform with Representative Butch Parrish today at Wiregrass Technical College in Valdosta yesterday.
“Discussions that provide possible solutions to the financial difficulties facing our state in the midst of the implementation of Medicaid reform should be ongoing and involve members from the necessary parties,” said Sen. Golden. “This study committee gives us the opportunity and time to discuss creative and innovative ways to remain fiscally conscious while also providing quality access to care for Georgians.”
Representatives from the Department of Community Health (DCH) along with other key stakeholders were in attendance to provide input and feedback on Medicaid programming. Presentation topics included: premium assistance approaches and the Affordable Care Act, provider network access, Medicaid FFS and CMO quality measures and rural health.
The Joint Study Committee on Medicaid Reform was created by the passage of House Resolution 107 during the 2013 legislative session. The committee is specifically studying current policies and procedures of Medicaid and whether current programs are being implemented in the most efficient and effective manner.
