Sen. John Wilkinson Recognizes Pro Rodeo Announcer Roger Mooney

ATLANTA (December 28, 2020) | Sen. John Wilkinson (R – Toccoa) honored Ellijay native and Pro Rodeo Announcer Roger Mooney at the state Capitol on Friday, December 18, 2020. Adopted unanimously by the Senate in March, Sen. Wilkinson presented Roger with Senate Resolution 951, recognizing Mooney for 35 years of work in the entertainment and rodeo industries.

“Roger’s extensive career and rise to becoming one of the country’s most renowned rodeo commentators is truly a testament to his unwavering work ethic,” said Sen. Wilkinson. “His lighthearted personality is bound to brighten up any room he walks into. It was truly an honor to present Roger with this well-deserved recognition alongside his wife, Ashley, and two children.”

Roger has performed at multiple nationally-recognized events, including the National Finals Rodeo, the Superbowl Professional Rodeo and National Circuit Finals Rodeo. His career includes numerous televised appearances on national networks such as ESPN, ESPN2, TNN and the Outdoor Channel, where he serves as the primary host of Rodeo Roundup. Roger resides in Ellijay, Georgia and continues to maintain an active role in the rodeo industry as an announcer and commentator.
