Senate Majority Leader Champions Bill Protecting Teachers

ATLANTA (February 23, 2012) — Senate Bill 153, sponsored by Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock), has passed the Senate 51-0 with overwhelming bipartisan support. The bill requires that written documentation be provided to teachers, administrators, and contract employees who have been terminated or suspended only for financial reasons, specifying such as the reason for their termination or suspension.

Sen. Hardie Davis Recognizes Engineers Week at the State Capitol

ATLANTA (February 23, 2012) – Sen. Hardie Davis (D-Augusta) honored engineering and technology professionals yesterday at the State Capitol with the presentation of Senate Resolution 967. The resolution deems February 19 – 25, 2012, as Engineers Week and recognizes the contributions engineers make to society as role models and teachers.

Sen. Seay Recognizes Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services

ATLANTA (February 22, 2012) – Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) honored the Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services for their World Championship titles for the “Open” and “Over 40” relay teams with SR 711.  They competed against 600 teams from eight different countries at the annual Firefighters Combat Challenge last November.  The combined victories raise the Clayton Firefighters total World Championships titles to eight.

Sen. Judson Hill Files Free-Market Health Care Legislation

ATLANTA (February 21, 2012) – Today, Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta) filed four bills aimed at improving Georgians’ access to health care, bringing free-market based improvements and lowering costs for health care for most Georgians. The legislation followed Sen. Hill previous work to bring free market and patient centered healthcare solutions, and helps further lay the framework for state based healthcare once the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
