ATLANTA (May 4, 2023) | Yesterday, Governor Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 107, also known as Izzy’s Law, in the north wing of the Georgia State Capitol, surrounded by the family of Israel “Izzy” Scott. Izzy’s Law, sponsored by Sen. Max Burns (R – Sylvania), will require the Department of Public Health to develop a widely-accessible safety plan for aquatic activities based on the standards for nationally-accredited swim instructors.

ATLANTA (March 16, 2022) | Yesterday, Senate Bill 537, sponsored by Sen. Harold Jones II (D – Augusta), was passed out of the Senate with a unanimous, bipartisan vote of 51 to 0. Known as the “Georgia Food Insecurity Eradication Act”, SB 537 addresses the issue of food deserts and those suffering from food insecurity throughout Georgia.

ATLANTA (March 16, 2022) | On Tuesday, March 15, Senate Bill 227, sponsored by Sen. Harold Jones II (D – Augusta), was passed by the Senate with bipartisan support by a vote of 35 to 17. SB 227 would allow county governments to declare abandoned mall property blighted and use their powers under eminent domain to improve the property.
