Sen. Jeff Mullis Named One of Georgia’s Most Influential People

ATLANTA (January 16, 2018)   | Out of around 10.4 million Georgians, Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) was again recognized as one of Georgia’s most influential people by Georgia Trend Magazine. The magazine’s annual list recognizes the 100 Most Influential Georgians, and this is Sen. Mullis’ 10th year in a row making the list. His tenure on Georgia Trends 100 Most Influential Georgians list is now the longest active in the Georgia Senate, and no other legislator has achieved this accomplishment in so many consecutive years.

Georgia DCA Designates Perry as Rural Zone

ATLANTA (January 13, 2018)  |  Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) announces that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has designated historic downtown Perry as a “Rural Zone” under a new program that will allow eligible businesses to qualify for state tax credits.  The Rural Downtown Revitalization Act, enacted by the legislature in 2017, encourages investment in “Rural Zone” communities that creates jobs, refurbishes older buildings and stimulates economic activity. Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council Annual Salute to Dr. King

ATLANTA (January 11, 2018) | Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) invites the public to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council’s Annual Salute to Dr. King. Each year in January, the Martin Luther King Advisory Council, along with the Department of Community Affairs, sponsor a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King. This year’s event will include remarks by Georgia House of Representatives Speaker David Ralston and Kristie C. Raymer with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
