ATLANTA (March 31, 2021) |  In response to the passage of House Bill 479, which would end citizen arrest in Georgia, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Chairwoman Senator Tonya P. Anderson (D – Lithonia) issued the following statement:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus is proud to have led the effort to end the antiquated practice of citizens arrest. With the Senate voting favorably for this bill, we ask the Governor to sign House Bill 479 quickly.

Sen. Dean Burke of Bainbridge Supports Danimer Scientific Expansion

ATLANTA (March 30, 2021) | Sen. Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge) is proud to support Gov. Brian Kemp as he announces the nearly $700 million investment project by Danimer Scientific located in Bainbridge. The project will quadruple their workforce in Decatur County by adding 400 jobs to the expected 2,000,000-square foot facility.

Update from the Capitol: Week 11

With Day 38 complete, the 2021 Legislative Session is nearly behind us and the work we have been able to accomplish in this week alone has been a remarkable reflection of our ability to work together in service to the great state of Georgia. One of our largest accomplishments has been the Senate’s passage of House Bill 81, the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget, which is in its final stages of deliberation. While the only required constitutional obligation of this body, we’ve sworn to represent the very best interests of our constituents and many of the bills we passed this week aim to improve your lives.
