Sen. Emanuel Jones to Hold Press Conference on Eagle’s Landing Legislation
ATLANTA (February 5, 2018) | Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) will hold a press conference Tuesday, February 6, 2018, to urge the Senate State and Local Governmental Operations Committee to postpone a hearing on Senate Bills 262 and 263, until more public input is received.
“When dealing with legislation that has the potential to effect the financial viability of a city, it is vital that input from all stakeholders is included before any decisions are made,” said Sen. Jones. “This legislation has the potential to impact an entire community by annexing away a large portion of Stockbridge’s commercial zones, without which Stockbridge could see a drastic loss of revenue. I am hopeful that any vote on this proposed legislation will be delayed until we can get a clearer picture of how Stockbridge residents will be effected.”

Senate Bills 262 and 263 relate to the city of Stockbridge and the proposed creation of the City of Eagle’s Landing. SB 262 would de-annex territory from the City of Stockbridge and transfer it to Eagle’s Landing. SB 263 would outline and establish the creation of the new City of Eagle’s Landing.
