ATLANTA (March 28, 2025) — Yesterday, House Bill 127 passed out the Senate Committee on Education and Youth, prohibiting public schools, local education agencies and public postsecondary institutions from promoting or maintaining programs that advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Sen. Donzella James Praises Fulton County Superior Court Ruling Halting Election Hand-Count Requirement

ATLANTA (October 16, 2024) Today,Sen. Donzella James (D–Atlanta), Chairwoman of the Senate Standing Committee on Urban Affairs, praised Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney’s ruling to stop the State Election Board’s hand-count requirement. The ruling declared the Election Board’s Hand Count Rule to be “too much, too late,” while the Court continues to consider the matter.

Sen. Matt Brass to Lead Senate Subcommittee on Homeowners Associations

ATLANTA (September 17, 2024) — Senate Rules Chairman Sen. Matt Brass (R–Newnan) has appointed a Senate Subcommittee on Homeowners Associations, where he will serve as Chair. The subcommittee will examine homeowners associations (HOAs), which are organizations in residential communities responsible for enforcing rules and regulations, maintaining common areas and managing community services across Georgia. Upon its conclusion, it will ensure these entities comply with state law and uphold residents’ constitutional rights.
