ATLANTA (March 25, 2009) – State Senator Eric Johnson’s (R-Savannah) Senate Bil1 210 passed today in the House and is now ready for the Governor’s signature. The measure allows home school program students to be eligible for the Governor’s Honors Program, now only open to public and private high school students.
ATLANTA (March 24, 2009) — Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) is encouraging eligible high school seniors to register to vote at their school during the month of April. Thanks to legislation that she sponsored in the Senate in 2001, public schools now offer students who are at least 18 years old the opportunity to register to vote at their school.

As a leader in the State Senate, I often reflect on the vision of our nation’s founders and will even go back and read The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States. Today I’m reminded of the biggest grievance against the King of England – “Taxation without Representation” – and think how asleep our country has been when it comes to paying taxes and government spending. We’ve been asleep because our taxes come out of each paycheck, which hinders our ability to see how much we’re really being taxed. Do you realize that most Americans have to work a half of a year just to pay for their federal taxes alone? That’s a real eye-opener. Let me give you another one.
