Sen. Blake Tillery’s Plan to Cut Georgia’s Income Tax Passes Senate

ATLANTA (February 12, 2026) — This week, Sen. Blake Tillery’s (R–Vidalia) plan to eliminate the state income tax for two-thirds of Georgians, reduce the tax rate for the other third by over $5,000, and eventually eliminate the state income tax for everyone passed the Georgia Senate.  Georgia families and small businesses will get tax relief while the budget priorities of the state are fully funded.

Sen. Jaha Howard Introduces Legislation to Protect Immigrants’ Privacy Rights

Jaha Howard (D–Smyrna) introduced Senate Bill 464, which would prohibit federal immigration enforcement agencies from using individuals’ biometric data, such as facial recognition software, voice prints, or retinal imaging, to verify immigration status.

Sen. Jaha Howard Introduces Legislation to Press Pause on Data Centers

ATLANTA (February 9, 2026) — Recently, Sen. Jaha Howard (D–Smyrna) introduced Senate Bill 436, aimed at curbing the growth of data centers by suspending the issuance of any new sales and use tax exemptions starting July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027. The bill would also prohibit local governments and political subdivisions from entering into nondisclosure agreements regarding electricity usage or water usage of data center projects or other entities.
