Despite what you hear about tight budgets, declining revenues, and the difficult economic climate, the Georgia Senate has found ways to move Georgia forward and produce positive results for our citizens.  Just like you and your families, the legislature must find ways to operate and do more with less.  We are doing everything in our power to lighten the burdens on taxpayers, provide a more transparent government, and find cost efficiencies within our own budgets.

Georgia Property Owners Score Victory

ATLANTA (March 12, 2010) – The most sweeping overhaul of the Georgia property tax system in decades has won unanimous (54-0) approval in the Georgia Senate. Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers’ (R-Woodstock) Property Tax Assessment and Appeals reform bill is aimed at ensuring all Georgia properties are properly assessed at Fair Market Value and that property owners have guaranteed rights to appeal. Senator James Recognizes HBCU Bus Tours.com with Senate Resolution

ATLANTA (March 11, 2010) – Sen. Donzella James (D-College Park) will present HBCU Bus Tours.com with a Senate Resolution (SR 1197) honoring the organization for its 28 years of service.  The company connects inner city students with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) around the country, allows them to tour the campuses and prepares students for the collegiate experience.  Atlanta will serve as a departure city for students participating in the spring tour March 8 thru April 8.
