ATLANTA (February 23, 2026) — Tomorrow, February 24, Sen. RaShaun Kemp (D–Atlanta) will host a press conference with Rep. Bryce Berry (D–Atlanta), Georgia students, and Atlanta Public Schools board members to highlight Senate Bill 479 and House Bill 1239, legislation aimed at protecting students’ First Amendment rights and expanding civic engagement opportunities in schools. In response to local retaliation against student walkouts, this bill seeks to encourage student participation in civic activities, including visiting the capitol, attending protests and strikes.
