Sen. John Douglas Pre-Files Legislation to Protect Children from Sexual Predators
ATLANTA (December 30, 2008) – State Senator John Douglas (R-Social Circle) has pre-filed Senate Bill 14 to help protect school children from sexual predators. The bill simply amends current state law by adding that no one on the National Sex Offender Registry or the state sexual offender registry can be elected to serve on a local board of education.

Sen. Regina Thomas Ends Senate Term in January
ATLANTA – (December 18, 2008) Sen. Regina Thomas (D-Savannah) will end her term as state Senator of the 2nd District on January 11, 2009. Sen. Thomas has represented District 2 for almost 15 years, first serving in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 1998 and then in the Senate beginning in 2000. Senator-Elect Lester Jackson (D-Savannah) will succeed Thomas on January 12, 2009, when the legislative session convenes.
