Throughout my time in the Georgia Senate, I have been a devoted supporter of changing the law concerning seat belt use in pick-up trucks.  Georgia is one of the only states without a law requiring adults to wear seat belts in pick-up trucks.  As a family medical practitioner and a legislator, I am here to tell you we can no longer stand for this and the time to act is now.

Despite what you hear about tight budgets, declining revenues, and the difficult economic climate, the Georgia Senate has found ways to move Georgia forward and produce positive results for our citizens.  Just like you and your families, the legislature must find ways to operate and do more with less.  We are doing everything in our power to lighten the burdens on taxpayers, provide a more transparent government, and find cost efficiencies within our own budgets.

Georgia Property Owners Score Victory

ATLANTA (March 12, 2010) – The most sweeping overhaul of the Georgia property tax system in decades has won unanimous (54-0) approval in the Georgia Senate. Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers’ (R-Woodstock) Property Tax Assessment and Appeals reform bill is aimed at ensuring all Georgia properties are properly assessed at Fair Market Value and that property owners have guaranteed rights to appeal.
