ATLANTA (March 4, 2014) |  The Georgia State Senate passed Senate Bill 383 today, which clarifies current law regarding a coroner’s obligations regarding unclaimed objects or property related to the deceased individual. Sen. Brandon Beach Leads the Passage of Influential Legislation on Crossover Day

ATLANTA (March 4, 2014) | Senator Brandon Beach (R- Alpharetta) led the passage of two bills and a resolution on Crossover Day at the State Capitol.  Crossover Day is the last day a bill can pass to the opposite chamber; if the bill does not receive a passing vote in its original chamber, then it cannot move on in the legislative process and must be revived in the next legislative session.  Continue reading “Sen. Senate Passes Bill Proposing Amendment to Prevent Legislature from Collecting Ad Valorem Taxes

ATLANTA (March 3, 2014)  |  Senate Resolution 783, sponsored by Sen. Bill Heath (R-Bremen), passed the Georgia State Senate today by a vote of 38 to 13. This legislation would propose an amendment to the Georgia Constitution to prevent the Georgia General Assembly from re-enacting future ad valorem taxes. Senate Resolution Passes Urging Congress to Amend or Repeal Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act

ATLANTA (March 3, 2014) | Senate Resolution 747, the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act, passed the Senate today by a vote of 43 to 6. Sponsored by Senator William Ligon (R- Brunswick), this resolution urges the United States Congress to amend or repeal the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012.
