ATLANTA (January 10, 2023) | Yesterday, the Women’s Legislative Caucus hosted an event to recognize House Speaker Jan Jones as the first female House Speaker in Georgia’s history. Women’s Legislative Caucus Co-Chairs, Sen. Sally Harrell (D – Atlanta) and Rep. Kimberly Alexander (D – Atlanta), along with members of the bipartisan bicameral caucus, honored Speaker Jones for breaking barriers for women and girls in Georgia and for her steady leadership after assuming the position during the difficult time following Speaker David Ralston’s unexpected death in November 2022.
