Georgia State Senate Bests House in Livestock Showdown

ATLANTA (October 13, 2021) | On Saturday, October 9, 2021, the Georgia National Fair, with co-sponsorship from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, hosted its annual Legislative Livestock Showdown. The Senate team, captained by Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) and made up of Sens. Jason Anavitarte (R – Dallas), Sheikh Rahman (D – Lawrenceville), Kim Jackson (D – Stone Mountain) and Max Burns (R – Sylvania) won the Legislative Livestock Showdown, while Sen. Max Burns placed first individually in the showmanship competition.

Sen. Larry Walker to Co-Host Joint Agriculture Ag Issues Summit

ATLANTA (August 13, 2021) | Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) and Rep. Robert Dickey (R – Musella), respective chairs of the Senate and House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committees, will host the Joint Agriculture Chairmen’s Ag Issues Summit on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter. As part of the agenda, participants will have the ability to review important agricultural updates and issues including, but not limited to, water policy and use, labor issues and rural development.

Sen. Larry Walker and Members of the Joint Defense Commission Meet at Robins Air Force Base

ATLANTA (July 20, 2021) | On Thursday, July 15, 2021, Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) joined members of the Joint Defense Commission for their third meeting at the Nugteren Hanger within the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base. At the meeting, members joined a group of panelists representing Georgia’s Air Force commands and installations to discuss issues and priorities.

Gov. Brian Kemp Appoints Sen. Larry Walker to Water and Sewer Infrastructure Committee

ATLANTA (July 1, 2021) | Earlier this week, Gov. Brian Kemp announced his selection of appointments to three Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees, which will be tasked with reviewing applications for federal relief funds and making recommendations for state appropriations awarded through the American Rescue Plan. Among the list of members, Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) was chosen to serve on the Water and Sewer Infrastructure Committee.

Gov. Brian Kemp Signs Bills Supporting Georgia’s Agriculture Industry

ATLANTA (May 14, 2021) | On Monday, May 10, 2021, Gov. Brian Kemp completed the signing of bills for the 2021 Legislative Session. Of the ones related to Georgia’s agriculture industry, seven of which went through the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee and one was sponsored by Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry), Chairman of the Committee.
