Sen. John Albers Introduces Bill to Eliminate TSPLOST Tax Penalty on Local Governments
ATLANTA (January 29, 2013) – Sen. John Albers (R- Roswell) today introduced Senate Bill 73 to reduce the financial burden on local governments who failed to pass the Transportation Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax (TSPLOST) referendum. If passed, this legislation will effectively remove the TSPLOST “penalty provision,” which requires local governments who rejected the TSPLOST to pay more for transportation grants. Senate Passes Responsible Welfare Legislation
ATLANTA (March 27, 2012) –The Georgia Senate passed HB 861, the Social Responsibility and Accountability Act, today by a vote of 36 to 15. Sponsored in the House by Rep. Michael Harden and carried in the Senate by Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell), this legislation requires recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to undergo drug screening to receive welfare benefits.

Senate Renews Sales Tax Exemption for Donations to Nonprofit Agencies
ATLANTA (March 27, 2012) –The Georgia Senate passed HB 318 today by a vote of 34 to 0. Sponsored in the House by Rep. Ron Stephens and carried in the Senate by Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell), this legislation renews an existing sales tax exemption on food that is donated to a qualified nonprofit agency.
