Sen. John Albers Announces Scholarship Program

ATLANTA (April 1, 2020) | Yesterday, Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell) announced two scholarships for graduating seniors residing in Senate District 56. The first scholarship will be designated for a student who plans to pursue a career as a first responder (firefighter, EMS, or law enforcement), while the second will be designated for a student planning to pursue a future in elected office. The amounts for each scholarship will be $500 and will be distributed directly to the institution of higher learning.

ATLANTA (March 31, 2020) | Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell) will hold a town hall conference call Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. to provide an update on the coronavirus crisis and outline resources available to Georgians. Sen. Albers will be joined by Terri L. Dennison who serves as the Georgia Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Sen. John Albers Leads Passage of Legislation Enhancing Retirement Benefits for First Responders

ATLANTA (March 7, 2020) | Thursday, Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell) presented two bills which will provide greater retirement benefits for Georgia’s Firefighters and Peace Officers. Senate Bill 248 and Senate Bill 249, which both received favorable passage in the Senate, would increase the monthly retirement benefits payable to members of the Georgia Firefighters Pension Fund and The Georgia Peace Officers’ Annuity and Benefit Fund, respectively.
