The 2010 Legislative Session was one of the toughest in Georgia history.  In January, we faced the worst economic climate since the Great Depression, complete with plummeting state revenues and rising jobless rates.  In the end, the Republican-lead legislature delivered a balanced budget, significant tax cuts, and a more streamlined state government.  We also accomplished that which few thought we could – a transportation funding package that will set Georgia on the right track for stability and economic recovery.

Senate Passes Bill Putting Spotlight on Pledge of Allegiance and Georgia History

ATLANTA ( March 26, 2010) – Senate Bill 518, which amends Georgia code to include the study of the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag and the Georgia flag in elementary and secondary schools history curriculum, passed the Senate unanimously.   The bill was sponsored by Sen. Mullis: True Progress Comes In Putting Georgians First

As we approach the final ten days of session, we continue to pass meaningful legislation that deals with public safety and improving the quality of our state’s transportation system. From honoring and protecting our brave public safety officers to ensuring that Georgia’s roads remain safe for all drivers, I will continue working with my colleagues to pass meaningful legislation that will positively impact the lives of Georgians for years to come.
