Sen. Emanuel Jones Releases Statement on H5N1 Avian Influenza Detected at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary

ATLANTA (August 22, 2022) | On August 21, 2022, the Georgia Department of Agriculture detected the H5N1 virus at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary. As of yesterday, over 700 wild black vultures were found deceased on the grounds of the sanctuary. As a result, many avian species (ostrich, emu, parrots, etc.) that call the sanctuary home are set to be humanely euthanized in the near future. In the meantime, a six mile perimeter surrounding the sanctuary grounds has been put in place to help combat the spread of the virus.

Sen. Emanuel Jones Brings Awareness to Recent Events Unfolding at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary

ATLANTA (August 10, 2022) | Today, the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary Board of Directors held a meeting with efforts to remove some of the sanctuary’s key members and doctors. The majority of the staff and board members are in high opposition to such removal.

Sen. Emanuel Jones on the COVID-19 Pandemic

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” I believe that now is the time for all people of goodwill and benevolence to seize this moment and do what is right to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We must act immediately to protect our school-aged children, family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. We must start talking to each other about the importance of vaccination. And we must be courageous and use our roles in our communities to bring forth change.

Senator Emanuel Jones Appointed to Economic Impact Infrastructure Committee by Governor Brian Kemp

ATLANTA (July 1, 2021) | Earlier this week, Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) to the Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committee on Economic Impact. These appointments were created to review applications and advising the Governor on American Rescue Plan Act funds that were allocated to the state.
