Senator James Recognizes HBCU Bus Tours.com with Senate Resolution

ATLANTA (March 11, 2010) – Sen. Donzella James (D-College Park) will present HBCU Bus Tours.com with a Senate Resolution (SR 1197) honoring the organization for its 28 years of service.  The company connects inner city students with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) around the country, allows them to tour the campuses and prepares students for the collegiate experience.  Atlanta will serve as a departure city for students participating in the spring tour March 8 thru April 8.

Senator James to Host “People Speak” Town Hall Meeting

WHAT: State Sen. Donzella James (D-College Park) has invited Rep. Roger Bruce (D-Atlanta), Rev. Benjamin Lang and other community activist to participate in the “People Speak” town hall meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4th.  This town hall meeting with give Douglas County residents a chance to discuss topics of interest with their state representatives, and get an update on the current legislative session.

Senator James Announces Haitian Relief Campaign

ATLANTA (Jan. 15, 2010) – Sen. Donzella James (D-College Park) has joined forces with East Point Mayor Earnestine D. Pittman, State Rep. Joe Heckstall (D-East Point) and the Honorable Patsy Jo Hilliard, former mayor of East Point, to encourage schools, businesses and members of the faith community to make generous monetary donations to the citizens of Haiti.

Senator James Announces Ambassador Round Table Program

ATLANTA (Jan. 8, 2010) – State Sen. Donzella James (D-Atlanta) will select 35 community leaders from the 35th district to participate in an Ambassador Round Table.  The mission of the program is to make government more accessible and easier for constituents to understand by allowing community leaders to become a part of the process.  Sen. James will attend the meetings and use the suggestions from the ambassadors to create legislation based on the needs of the community. No issue will be off limits during the meetings with topics ranging from education, the economy and health care.
