ATLANTA (November 5, 2019) | Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) recently announced the City of Baxley has been awarded a contract to fund the rehabilitation of Baxley Municipal Airport’s runway and taxiway as part of the Fiscal Year 2020 Airport Aid Program. The contract award is worth over $1.95 million and is being federally funded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s grant to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
“Ensuring our airport’s infrastructure is up to code and able to support various types of aircraft are vital components to investments made in rural Georgia,” said Sen. Tillery. “I know that this project and others around our district are ways to both entice investors and support current business through transportation improvements. I’m grateful to Gov. Kemp, Rep. Greg Morris and Steven Meeks, and our colleagues in the legislature who helped us get this for Appling County.”
